Depends on what you're doing on those 3 days, both in and out of the gym. Any reason you don't want to spread your workouts through the week?

I train Mon-Fri most days. Then rest weekends. The only prob with that is you can't do two bodyparts per day. Concentrate on a bodypart that won't affect your workout the next day. So if you're doing Arms monday, don't do back or chest the next day, because you'll be sore from the pervious day. I would of course suggest using my training split, it's a mon-fri workout sched.
Monday: Chest
Tuesday: Back
Wednesday: Traps and Shoulders
Now, usually I do legs with shoulders, but it's up to you.
Thursday: Arms
Friday: Legs
Always do legs on a friday so that they have time to rest on the weekend. If you do them mid week, you'll have a hard time walking for the rest of the week.

To be completley honest only you can tell if you're over training. It all depends on how you train, what you do after you train, how much sleep you get, how much food you take in, all these factor in to how much you can put your body through before starts to shut down. If you go to the gym for an hour a day and train like a soccer mom then you should be able to train 7 days a week and still have enough energy to have a 4 hour fuck fest with your gf when you get back from the gym. I train only 4 days a week Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat, but I train very heavy and for 45min-60min max, I tried to train very heavy 6 days a week but found myself drained after 6 weeks. I asked Jay Cutler in an e-mail the same question and all he said was "you have to train by feel", I didn't understand what he meant at that time and thought he was a dick for just brushing me off but he was right. If you have a workout routine that doesn't mean that you have to stick to it religiously, train until you achieve the desired pump in your muscles not until you get every rep from every set. Once you know what kind of training your body can handle restructure your training routine around that. I hope this makes sence.

I think that training 3 days in row isn't bad at all. Although if you are very sore and train several bodyparts a day it's convinient for you to throw some rest days along the week.

sleep is not the only form of recovery.

did you fellas take into consideration active recovery? depending on what your doing, your job, ect. then i beleive 3 days in a row is fine if oyur training a different bodypart on each day.
