I mean I have seen lots of people do and if you mimic the movement you can feel it working the muscle a little different . Same concept as the Arnold presses.

But there is no way that you are going to be able to do that workout with heavy weight. Thats looking for an injury.

morbs right, those types of exercises are primarily for shock exercises and if you do heavy then your risk of injury drastically increases. do 3/4 of your traditional db press to start off in my opinion.

I don't see the benefit of turning your palms inward at the finish. If you want to work your tricepts more extensively, perform the ENTIRE MOTION of the DB press with palms facing inward. Regular form will hit the chest more. This guy might be attempting to feel a better squeeze at the top - however, as other people may tell you, squeezing at the top with dumbbells doesn't do much because it releases tension from the contraction. Instead, go straight up and down (with a very slight squeeze if needed).

personally i do palms facing in the whole time and turn em regular at the top because it causes the delt to work a little harder

I never really saw the point to these. You're asking for injury when you're using the heavier weights.

If you want to lift the chest do pull-overs. On flyes it's okay because it's a different excercise. You're not flye pressing, you're pressing. IMO

Some people do them if the weight they are using is too large to get a good squeeze on the muscle so they turn the weight.

Yeah, I remember reading that when Branch presses 200lb DB he has to turn them because they're too long to press them normally. But if you're using that much weight, and you've built muscle that way, it's what ever works for you. Don't go by how it looks, go by how it feels.

doing these exercises keep a more consistant contraction on the chest...only problem is you can't go too heavy cos it gets uncomfortable on the wrists...& i wouldn't like a 150lb dumbell falling on my nose, would you? lol
stick to your basics bro

Yes I agree with LBJ,, but then again I'm not stupid to NOT agree with him,,lol,,j/k

you can perform those twist at the end with low weight to get a really good contraction on the inner muscles of the chest area..

Chris
