Hey guys, I was wondering is there any difference in weight? Lets say i go buy Olympic brand York weight more pricey, Then i go and buy a 300 pound $109 deal from Play It Again Sports. The weight itself just says Standard barbell made in china weight. Is there a difference here in accuracy?

Generally speaking, olympic plates have a 2" bore and standard plates have a 1-1/16" bore.

Olympic bars have rotating sleeves whilst standard bars do not.

Then again I've seen a company label plates as standard olympic plates, so go figure.

There may also be a difference in accuracy, but it's hard to tell without weighing the individual plates. Unless you're buying calibrated plates, they can weigh as much as +- 10% of what they're marked.

Damn, mabo's got his **** in order. But honestly, you'd be better off going to play it again. Almost every gym has "standard" weights or some variation of.
