Has anybody ever heard that the excentric part of the movement is supposed to raise Myostatin levels in the muscle while the concentric part of the movement is supposed to lower it? This would mean that neglecting the excentric part and letting down the weight quickly would be better.
I hear something about a study which had been done on this, but I'm not sure.

From a bodybuilding point of view the eccentric phase is more important than the concentric.

depends on what you are going for-
If you are using a slow ass tempo on your reps like 5-0-5 or somethign like that you are not really using the max poundage you could if you only used your bodys natural tempo.
Tempo numbers are bullshit IMO- If you just control the weight then you body has a natural tempo it follows- when you near failure you naturally slow down your reps increasing time under tension.

This is also what I knew so far and because of this I was astonished to read that the eccentric part is supposed to increase Myostatin. However I am not even sure wether this is really true, I only read it.
But negative reps are effective, they cause more muscular damage.

Did the article state HOW Myostatin levels are increased by the eccentric phase?
