Running is the best way to burn those extra pounds. of course, combined with a good diet... Lift heavy, a poundage you can handle for at least 8 reps.

Erg!! That's the indoor rowing machine for all the non-rowers here (I know I know, that's everyone but me lol!). It uses more muscles than virtually every form of cardio and has been proven to burn up to twice as many calories as other forms of cardio. If you have no idea how to use one check out my article-esque thread on proper rowing form

Don't worry Half Second, you've got at least one guy listening. Haven't been doing the erg heaps, just one or two 500m sprints at the end of normal cardio until the knee gets more comfortable. Best 500m time so far is 1:40.8, hoping to go sub 1:30 by the end of the year.

Not the way you use it, I know, but it's better than nothing.

It has good days and bad days, on good days I can squat 315 for 8-10 without pain, on bad days it hurts to squat down or kneel without any weight. It's gonna be a long rehab process.

To address the post, you can do whatever cardio you like as long as it gets your HR up and gets you sweating. Bike, incline walking, cross trainer, swimming, erg, sandbag carries, tire flips, light farmers walks, hill sprints, aerobics - whatever tickles your fancy. As long as you're working you'll burn fat.

You can still build muscle while burning fat, but understand that doing a lot of cardio will reduce your ability to do so. No reason you can't do both, just don't go overboard with the cardio if you're trying to pack on some size.

And obviously nutrition will have as large an effect as exercise when it comes to both losing fat and building muscle.
