In my opinion they should be used when you don't make any progress any more. They are good for chocking the muscles.

i use them when i feel like it. sometimes i finish a set and then im like "more!" so i drop some weight off and hit up some more weights. i dont use supersets, i dont like them. and compound sets are awesome as well. i use those for shoulders a lot.

me too .. also when i want to finish my quads routine .. i do couple of compound sets and drop sets with leg extintion

but till now .. i didn't see any benefit of that .. maybe it's good when you cut up . because you want to raise your heart rate while short period of time when you take rest between sets which lead to burn extra calories

yeah, about 3 weeks out you start going for blood valume. shit like 3 sets of leg extensions for 100 reps. crazy stuff like that, just to get in that last bit of definition. i know im gonna get flammed because "higher reps dont lose fat" but i just like doing them like that a few weeks out.

drop sets and super sets: these are best if you dont have much time for breaks between sets and want to keep as much blood flowing through your muscle as possible. and also to help shock a muscle group. other than that i dont think they have much value.
im not sure what compund sets are

I think drop sets can be useful every now and then but you don't need to use them every workout.
One example is if you are attempting to lift a heavy weight and can only lift it like 4 times. If I keep attempting this weight week after week but still can only get 4 I will try knocking the weight down a bit emidiately after the set and getting a few more reps. This can help break through the plateau.
