if you are doing it right then you should feel the muscle roll up your neck and eventually like it was set on fire by satan himself. remember look up at the ceiling and limit the neck's range of motion you want a close squeeze, it works

try it out. another reason for shrugs is that it builds your rotator cuff up and prevents injuries on bench and other excercises

so shrug away
maybe even have some trap like the great Kaz one day?
