Is deadlifting overrated in bodybuilding?

I love deadlifting, but from bodybuilding standpoint it doesn't make my back look round or turtle like, every pull up and row movement does that, they are the back wideners.

I think deadlifting only helps to make muscle's/joint's more cabable in handling weight's, but it won't give you anything else... maby thickens the back but even that is arguable for sure.

Serge nubret never deadlifted, this is confirmed by him self, and it never stoped him geting such a greate back so...

I was thinking I'll stop fearing my back day and not go so psycho on deadlifting from now on.

Oppinions?

no the deadlift is not overated, it makes the back look thick and dense. why has ronnie coleman got the best back in bodyuilding because he does HEAVY deadlifts! just my opinion

I haven't dead lifted in months and my back looks better than ever, just been doing the row and pull movements like you mentioned..can't say if it's completley over rated though

i love deadlifts. I tend to find my traps very sore after a good session. it's probably the most compound of all the compound movements..... great excerise!

I think out of squats and deadlifts you should at least be doing one of them.

The reason people don't do them is because they are hard.

i dont always deadlift but i do it when i think i should. it thickens the lower back and improves stability
