The weight loss equation is (calories consumed – calories burned = net weight
gain or loss).

So the focus is calories burning.

The best way to burn calories is to exercise regularly.

Exercise is an important part of any weight loss regime.

Here are three good reasons:

1. Exercise raises your basal caloric rate. The more you work out,
the more muscles you build and the more calories you burn, even while
you are at rest.

2. Exercise helps in easing stress and boredom and relieve hunger pangs.

3. Exercise is critical to your health. Weight loss isn’t just about losing pounds, it’s about living a healthier life. Exercise will keep your body strong, fit, and resistant to disease and weight-related illness.

Regards,

Heather

calorie burning is for someone who wants to be more lean... calorie useage is for someone who wants to grow
thought i might point that out.. some people especially beginners get confused when one time they read "calories are needed to grow and get bigger muscles" then on the next page they read "you can get the body you desire with increased calorie burning"
i know this because i was one of those people
i dident know a calorie from a frigen protien way back when i started off

Sort of lends support to separating questions and advice between the two categories of bulking (gaining LBM) and cutting (lowering BF).

Heather - I think there is a small piece of info missing in your equation. It may be obvious to most of us, but newbies might get confused. Net calories does not convert directly to net weight loss/gain. There is another calculation required to determine how many calories are required to lose a lb of weight and hom many calories are required to gain a lb of weight. TheFreak will probably know more specifics here.
