My Training partner and I have been on a demanding workout program for nearly a month. We have been doing 40 min of cardio 6* week. We also have been dieting, but we eat natural. And plenty of protein as well. I`m 6`5 230 pounds. Each pound your body consists of is 60% mass 40% fat. Therefore you will lose some muscle mass but also you will lose more fat. Think about it, your body is 60% mass, 40% fat, see the bright side ? Your body is composed of more muscle since you are a guy, we grow quicker and bigger than women naturally. I`m not sure how much I have loss in weight and I really don`t care, be cause my abs are coming in and that`s what you need. Overall before we workout we always do ab work and we do it without weights. We train 3 days light and 3 days heavy and throughout the entire week we do ab work and cardio and we have gotten bigger in muscle size AND shrunk fat and we have gotten stronger. When you train train smooth and slow. You WILL get better results that way. You will sacrifice some muscle mass in the short run but you will reduce your bodyfat and as long as you have your abs showing no matter what size you are, you can always keep growing as long as you train. BTW, I`m 20. Another thing we do besides eat natural is, we take a protein shake one hour before workout along with glutamine powder mixed in after eating a small meal, that speeds up the fat burning process AND gives you energy !

PS- we do our workouts 7:30 or 8:30 at night

also take bcaa's before and after cardio to maintain muscle mass. If you eat correctly you should be able to burn just fat and very little if any muscle. At the most you want to loose 2 pounds per week.

I too like intervals, and think they imporve the efficiency of fat burning, in consideration of the effort vs time vs boring factors.

CasCas - wouldn't those percentages only pan out if your BF were 40%? If so, those aren't abs that you're seeing, they are rolls.
