Right yeh im thinkin of training a body part once a week not twice now. This may seem normal to alot of you but its a big change for me as i have been training a body parts twice a week except for upper legs and back ever since i starting training.
Need to know what changes i shud possibly take and the pros and cons. I have a good idea of things, just wanna hear other people opinions on training once or twice.
Im thinkin of adding a few more sets onto each workout to giv it enough to last. The thing is i dont like being outa the gym for to long. i always like to feel firm if u know wot i mean.

cheeers lads n lasses

Well i don't train anything one too three times, I train with the idea of day one day two day three... etc. Just like meal one meal two meal three... you know. It's how many day's you have rest since you last hit the samebody part that counts more.
I train my body in 5 days, then rest, then start the session again, with differend intensity.

Anyway, I would still recommend 2 times a week, there's no rules for this.
2 times a week is not over training to me, unless I under eat.
Most guys in my gym allways comes to me; "yeah man I had one week rest Don't know why my chest day is going so badly, well at least I haven't overtrained I have rested good".

Too much rest is worse than too little rest. At too little rest you just change the volume of your training, but when you are under trained you have to kinda start from the beginnign.

Yeh mate i aint to keen on it, training a body part once a week. The thing that made me think buot doin it is coz im back at work on the building now always lifting heavy shit and hammering and generally always moving lifting stuff so i figured i wud need more rest. I do know that its said to leave it 5-6 days before u hit another part but its hard to always change the days you hit a muscle coz of work and as i have two jobs. Big blokes in the gym always say to train once a week but everyone to there own. The only way im gunna find out is to do it i suppose.....hmmmmmmmmmmm

once is enough to make significant mass & strength gains. but in my bulk phases, the body part i need to grow more than others i will train twice on a 4-5 day split, to allow enough time for rest recovery & maximising your full growth potential & to pump enough nutrition around your body to fuel it...

a typical bulk i train lats & chest twice, sometimes arms

î believe some of this is wrong lol... sorry to toake u here but...

when u talk about too much rest, i believe ure thinking of 1-2 days more than necessary, right?
those 1-2 days there wont be much muscle loss if u just eat properly. take for example chest. u train chest day 1, and it need 5 days to rest. if u instead train it in 7 days, u wont have to start from the beginning, u just had more than necessary rest. what is worse is that if u train chest 1-2 days too early again, the chest will get on a more catabolic stadium than it were after day 1. people have a hard time understanding this when i tell them but....
with right nutrition and good sleep, 1-2 days more than necessary is better than 1-2 days too early..

hope this helps

guys guys guys...

2 days rest & recovery a furthur 2 days for maximising your growth...
training twice is not a problem nor is it overtraining aslong as u allow sufficient time off for recovery & growth...i HIGHLY RECOMMEND 4 days to maximise your full growth potential. believe me, cos this theorie works natural & geared

Hmmm..

Somebody in here (I think) mentioned there isn't 1 way that works for all people. We're all commenting based on our personal experience (I hope).

In my personal experience, I used to train each body part twice a week, on a six day split with one day off. Sure, I was lean, but in a discussion with one of my buddies, he suggested that I might realize more improvement if I weren't over-training. That got me to thinking.

I'm now training each bodypart once per week, on a 5 day split, with 5 on , 2 off. I find that my workouts are shorter, my intensity is higher each time I work the muscle, and - yes - my body reacts much better to this regimen than to the old one.

Not for nothing, I would now worry far more about over training, than about under training. Now if we're talking about waiting a few days to work a body part again, there is no real concern. If you're on the 1 week on, 3 weeks off plan, than yes - you are under training
