I've used knee wraps when leg pressing heavy weight before..If you know how to wrap them properly they can help take alot of pressure off of your knees and help prevent injury. However, it's important you wrap them properly (I had my lifting partner do it for me) or it could lead to ligiment damage or could just be completley pointless to use, is that what you were asking? Hope it helps..

I have read in MD that many pros don't condone the use of knee wraps. Maybe only when you get to your heaviest set. The reasoning is that if you are doing something wrong, you won't be able to feel it with knee wraps and this can possibly lead to injury. I use them in the two heaviest sets. Only.

I'm not a big believer in wraps, as a rule, for BB. For PowerLifting or StrongMan stuff, maybe, but not for BB.

Reason being, while you're building your muscles larger and larger, slowly over time, you have to strengthen their support systems as well. If you fail to do this, you end up with these large muscles (hopefully) but all of the tendons, ligaments, and even the ty-ins conceivably, are non-comencerate with the muscles themselves. This is what leads to injury, because the stronger muscle in everyday use can put stresses that the support structures are incapable of handling.

Additionally, if you become accustomed to using all the paraphernalia, what happens if you don't have them with you one day. And, when you go to use the body you've built, are you gonna wear all that crap? You'd be the laughing stock of the whole beach.

i use a knee wrap on all leg and back exercises. However the only reason I do so is that I tore my ACL and MCL snowboarding a while back so i like to air on the side of caution when it come to my right knee.
