Howdy,
I've started running long distances races and i've started working out my legs less. Just curious on if i should run more and keep working legs like once every 1 1/2 weeks or work them out more? But the only bad thing about working out my legs is i get sore so i dont run for the next couple days.

You have to find some balance with working legs and running. If you want to run long distance races at a competitive level for years down the road, then maybe training for size isn't over all the best thing. Maybe you should work on strength on the days you do lift.

what i do is split up the running rountine so u run the days leading up the leg workout and then afterwards don't run for 3-4 days.

I work legs once or twice every week hard at the gym. I do my long run and/or hike once a week as well, but not usually on the same day. The max run I do on a legs day (or any weights day for that matter) is 2 - 3 miles.

Unless I can get the run in early in the morning (3 miles) and eat well afterwards (prot & carbs) then later in the day hit the weights and eat well again...

I don't really have any science behind it, I just think that long runs after hitting the weights are a bad idea because it spreads out the time from breakdown to nutrition/recover by another 30-60 minutes. I like to eat ASAP after weights.

the end.

I agree with Dustin07 here, but not just running, any type of cardio is bad after any training session, because you will waste your anabolic state to cardio basicly. It's not that simple but I like to keep things as simple as possible.
Sure you can split the workouts in two parts of the day with smaller body parts.

And if you want some security, ask Franco Columbo And Andreas Pudzianowski (spell check) is running smart when training leggs :P

2-3 days after legg training running can't be bad.

If you are trying to add mass to your legs then you have to cut down your running and concentrate more on your training. The reason your legs are sore after training is because you have lactic acid building up in your muscles and unless you go for a light run or go for a very light training session the day after you train they will be sore for a couple days. Idealy you want to go the gym the day after your leg workout and just do 1 set of very light weight with about 25-30 reps of squats or leg extensions just to get the blood flowing through your legs.

personally.. the gym is .75mile from my house, so I jog to it and home... it's the perfect warm up and cool down, IMO.
