Not that this in any way mimics real life, but say:

You have a late 30's lifter.

255 lb's, 5'10"

27%bf there'bouts (fat-@$$)

220g-250g p/day
200-300g c/day-nearly all b4 and afr lifting
40g f/day (6g fish-oil minimum/day)
vit-mineral/glucosamine-msm each day

Lifts/aerobic 3or4x week-good, solid workouts. i.e. 45-60 min lifting sets, 20-30 minutes aerobics afterwards.

Thoughts for improvements for this hypothetical dude? His body doesn't want to let go of fat, even with chemical coaxing.

Switch the carbs around. Carbs for breakfast, preworkout and postworkout. I don't see how or why a person would use most of 200-300 carbs the time before and after they workout.

At a max of 2560 calories a day at the most I don't see why he shouldn't be losing weight. Of course you can drop more carbs out to carve out some of the weight.

Unless he has a medical issue he should be able to lose weight with that. And if his carb sources aren't good it would add to that, along with training intensity, if a person like that is half assing it it won't go anywhere.

I thank everyone who replied...sometimes I get a little frustrated and only thinking in one direction.

I think the 60/20/20 represents a significant diet change in the right direction, as I"m close to the 50/30/20 right now...

I also caught a fat-loss thread on t-nation and they reccommended 2-4g of fiber per meal if you are trying to lose fat (I guess to keep you more full). I've got sugar-free "Fiber Choice" chewable tablets that are 2g each and don't taste half bad.

I'd eat those damn things like candy if I didn't know the consequences of such a poor choice! I prefer the orange ones...also, CVS makes an identical knock-off of the Fiber Choice, and they cost like 30-40% less (those damn things are pricey enough!)
