Volume training can be done many ways. The key is to keep rest times to a minimum to force adaptation for glycogen and ATP production and storage. To this end, the training is brutal for it's searing pain.
The easy approach is to try GVT 10x10
This is 10 sets of 10 reps of the first exercise.
Weight is about 65-70% of normal.
Rest times start at 1 minute. Have a clock in sight.
Reduce rest times 10 seconds each workout.
When you reach 30 seconds you may want to do normal workouts for a couple of weeks, then start again with more weight.
Right now I am doing 10x10 flat bench followed by 5 sets of heavier incline.
Periodization is important to get growth and strength!
