Lol. That looks like something from the matrix. They should give it a new name, like Inverted Hammer Squat, or Iso-bending squat. But i'll try it out.

As a form of variation sissy squats can be benificial. Lee Priest was a fan of doing a set of them immediatly after a set of hack squats or leg press as a burn out. I personally don't do them though.

Ive tried them out of curiousity however found they put a lot of stress where I dont think it ought be, namely on the knees due to the rather odd biomechanics of the movement... But I guess if you've got indestructable knees of Iron like the mighty Tom Platz, why the hell not lol

Back when I was competing these were the only form of squats I would do for my legs during the final weeks leading up to the show. Definitely takes some coordination to do.

they do pretty good for me, at the bottom i can hold that position for up to 30 seconds or so, i just do one set of 12, but each rep i hold at botom for as long as i can.

I used to break it up into 3 parts. Doing sets of 10 for each part, with the last part being the full "Sissy Squat". Eventually I got to the point where I was holding a weight against my chest. They definitely cause some serious buning.
