Hey guys I need a little advice** I am a 30 yr old semi pro basketball player in Costa Rica...Being said that I was wanting to get some other responses on how to develop more explosion in my legs, I had a decent vertical jump but about 2˝ months ago I really injured my back doing power clings...I am back in the gym on regular basis but I just dont feel like i used to be ...So what can I do to regain my quickness and jumping ability while still lifting kind of heavy!!!!!!:

do squats wih a half decent weight..squat down slowly, then shoot up and push your arms above your head so that when you stand up again, the move now becomes a millitary/shoulder press.
you prolly will figure out how to do it after a few practices but it'll build explosive power in the legs from having to thrust the barbell into the overhead position

If you want to be explosive, the LAST thing you want to do is train like a bodybuilder.

EliteFTS - Powerlifting and Strength Training Products and Knowledge for Lifters, Athletes, Coaches, and Trainers

Westside Barbell®"Often Imitated but never duplicated"

Iron Addicts

Check out some of the routines there, and also, I believe that on the elitefts site, Jim Wendler has some sport-specific routines for hockey and ball players as well as MMA fighters. For now, stop asking for advice from bodybuilders.

Thanks guys for the response...i will keep some of that in mind...Oh just one more thing...Well i mentioned that i injured my back doing power clings
so i switched to cling-n-press starting from a standing postion, i love this exercise (been doing it for awile) but my question what are the + and - from doing these and the traditional power cling?????
