When I deadlift I find that I'm gripping the bar with pretty much my fingers, I start off with my whole hand gripping but by the time I have the weight up its hanging on my fingers. Even if I use a lighter weight I can't keep a full grip. Exactly the same problem when doing chin-ups. I feel that my grip is letting me down. Does anyone else grip like this or do I just have a weak grip ?

You need to go out and buy some straps. At first I said no way to this and I made fun of someone who had them, but you lift way bigger with them. I have a awesome grip with them and holding a 600lb dead lift is not easy. My forearms are almost 16" but I improved every workout that needed a large grip, also I felt my back getting the workout and not my arms all the time. Try it out, only like 7 dollars!

ur grip will get stronger as u progress..ur not doing real heavy now so save the straps for much much bigger weights..

I picked up a pair of straps to solve this problem for me. I mainly only use them for doing shrugs though. My grip would go out far before my traps would.

Funny, I was looking up something on grip the other day, i'll put a link to it. Bodybuilding.com - David Robson - Get To Grips With Hand Strength: Develop Your Grip.
