good evening folks...gotta question to try and narrow down my problem with what I "think' it might be

we have the smith rack for squats, hack squat rack and the leg press rack (all for individual plates, ) so... my confusion is this:

leg press...can put four plates both sides, and i feel those muscles working, and can get full compression of the legs, knees bent, then extend out..no prob

smith squats and hack squats...about half the weight give or take, and if i go to full compression i get this PAIN down the left thigh on the exterior...not dead down the middle of the quad but on the outside left leg...i can only go ALMOST to having my thigh parrallel to the ground, but not quite...

i thought it was form on the smith rack, so i switch to hacks, and i get the same pain. and the hack squat keeps my back and upper body in one position on the sled.... with the leg press NO pain, full compression and extension, and just a 'working sore' type thing

I was jsut curious as to what i'm doing wrong to lift half the weight and twice the pain...

i'll be the 40 yr old noob over in the corner

Are you stretching out before you are doing your squats and presses? Or try a different stance when you are doing these exercises.

no..have to say i'm not stretching...

Odd..my danglies don't hurt on dips!

I was just curious why being upside down (so to speak) on leg press would not pain/jab like being rightside up (again...very technical here) when doing relatively the same movements...

ohwell...put that on my noob tab LOL

thanks..will stretch more prior to upright motions and i'll watch the danglies...
