i read the previous post on the related topic of Empty Stomach weight training, but i would like some thoughts and opinions on Empty stomach cardio. Should it only be done during cutting? Thank you.

You'll burn 300% more fat by doing cardio in the mornings on empty stomach than you would at any other time of the day

Guys, how does this affect muscle gains, if I do cardio in the mornin on an empty stomach I'll lose more fat, but does that mean I will also lose more muscle?

after you wake up AND before you eat in the mornings, your body is powered off your glycogen stores. cardio causes your body to deplete those stores and then use the body's fat stores as an alternate fuel source.

I usually have a quick whey protein shake before I do cardio in the morning to help prevent the loss of muscle. If you don’t have any carbs then the body will burn the glycogen stores you have and not touch the muscle.

There are different forms of cardio. If you are doing it to train the heart then you will be needing to treat it like you would resistance training. A whey protein shake with dextrose prior to should suffice. Keep this pace no longer than 30 minutes 3 times a week. Now if you are trying to burn fat then you take the pace down a notch to a good medium slow. You can either perform this post resistance training (after depleting your resources) or in the morning. It can be detrimental to your muscle mass if you perform fast paced cardio on an empty stomach because your body will feed on your muscles as fuel. But when taking it slow the body searches for a slow burning fuel source, body fat.
