My main concern with working out on an empty stomach would be going hypoglycemic. 2nd concern would be energy level.

Something should be in there and in my gym we always have a bowl of fruit out incase of hypo g.

DOn't know if you on any gear but that will increase your problmes of not eating.

I agree with tjbentham, I mean you should at least get some food before going out. Or at least something that can back you out for some hours.

after working out on empty and working out fed, i have come to the conclusion that working out fed is a much better option. Energy levels and blood sugar drops are less of a concern when you have food energry for your body to use.

increasing you bodies fasted state from the 8 hours of sleep to 10+ hours is not a good idea for effectivly putting on muscle

The Fix:

1. wake up 30 minutes earlier and down a whey and oats shake.
2. wake up with some whey then continue with some protein/carb shake during the work out.

exactly! its almost counter productive because you are breaking down the muscle but not fueling it to grow.

just some things to think about when you think about your priorities pre-workout

YOu need glucose levels stable during workouts. THe nutrition to repair comes after your workout.

IMO growth is something that occurs 24/7 with the exception of the workout period when you are breaking down the muscle. that is why bb'er's eat 6-8 times a day.

BB'ers eat 6-8 times a day because of the myth that is increases your metabolic rate.

Growth occurs over a 24-72 period of time (sometimes longer). Its not an opinion, its a nutritional fact.

1. Why you wold ever workout on an empty stomach is beyond me.
2. Your body isn't in a fasted state during sleep.
3. I don't know what you mean by "food energy". Its all the same and the eventual byproduct is exactly the same.
4. Your fix isn't a fix at all. Its a severe distortion of nutrition and the understanding of human physiology.

The nutrition required for protein synthesis is 24/7.
