Hi, i am creating this thread to try and get an idea on what you guys think is the best exercise for each muscle group and also THE best overall exercise (This doesn't nessicarily mean, the best mass building exercise, it could be down to the fact that you have made great gains from it, the pump is really intense, you enjoy it.... the reasons for your choice are limitless). Here is my list, just to show you how to set the list out (my explanation may not have been very clear).


CHEST:- Dumbell bench

SHOULDERS:- Power cleans

BICEPS:- Barbell curl (hands relitavely close together)

TRICEPS:- French press with preacher bar

FOREARM:- reverse barbell curls (hand slightly further than shoulder width apart)

TRAPS:- Seated Dumbell shrugs or Hang high pulls

BACK:- Deadlifts

QUADRICEPS:- Freeweight squats (feet placed close together)

HAMSTRINGS:- Stiff leg deadlifts

CALVE:- Seated calve raises

ABDOMINALS:- Weighted decline cruch

FAVOURITE OVERALL EXERCISE:- Deadlifts.

(Just to state again, this is purely a personal thing, please, share your suggestions, i don't want the mr know it alls to tell me that my selection is wrong, "the muscle fibres you recruit for this exercise.... blah blah blah, i don't give a shit).

Cool thread, man. Here are my picks:


CHEST:- Gonna be predicatble here and say the good ol' flat bench.

SHOULDERS:- Standing barbell press

BICEPS:- Straight barbell curl, medium grip

TRICEPS:- Parallel bar dips

FOREARM:- Actually, heavy deadlifts and barbell rows have done more for my forearms than anything else so far.

TRAPS:- I like dumbell shrugs with the d.bells just slightly behind my back

BACK:- Deadlifts & barbell rows

QUADRICEPS: Squats

HAMSTRINGS:- Stiff leg deadlifts

CALVE:- Standing calve raises

ABDOMINALS:- Hanging leg raises, although I recently learned how to do standing crunches with a pull-down cable, and they've been awesome so far.

FAVOURITE OVERALL EXERCISE:- Deadlifts, standing barbell presses

I guess if I had to pick just 5 exercises that I've found indispensible so far, they'd be sqauts, deadlifts, overhead presses, barbell rows, and medium-grip benches.

Here are mine I couldnt train without.


CHEST: Flat Dumbbell Bench

SHOULDERS:- Standing Military Press!!!!

BICEPS:- Standing Dumbbell Curls - pronated way up, hammer down

TRICEPS:- Close Grip Bench

FOREARM:- Heavy Back Work (I never do them by themselves)

TRAPS:- Barbell Shrugs from the front (lift more with barbell)

BACK:- If I have to chose between Bent Over Rows or Chin Ups Id probs have to take B/O Rows!

QUADRICEPS: Squats

HAMSTRINGS:- Romanian Deadlifts

CALVE:- Single Leg Dumbbell Calf Raises

ABDOMINALS:- Hanging Leg Raises in a circular way, windmill style

FAVOURITE OVERALL EXERCISE:- Deep Full Squats/Military Press

Chest: Barbell Presses or Dumbbell Flyes
Shoulders: Military Presses
Biceps: Seated Incline Dumbbell Curls
Triceps: Overhead Extentions/ French Curl or Skull Crushers
Traps: Dumbbell Shrugs
Back: Cable Rows
Quads: Leg Presses
Hamstrings: Lunges
Calves: Standing Raises
Abs: Weighted Decline Crunches

Best Overall exersize: Clean and Press (think thats what its called) or Deadlift.

SHOULDERS:- Front shoulder press

BICEPS:- Barbell curl

TRICEPS:- French press with Straight bar

FOREARM:- forearms get a lot of work from back execises

TRAPS:- Barbell Shrugs

BACK:- I love lat pulldowns

QUADRICEPS:- Squats

HAMSTRINGS:- Stiff leg deadlifts

CALVE:- Seated calve raises

ABDOMINALS:- leg raises

FAVOURITE OVERALL EXERCISE:- Shrugs and curls for the girls.

Ok, im pretty new to this, a lot of you have a lot more experience and knowledge than I do when it comes to BBing, but here's what I think...

CHEST:- Dumbell Press
SHOULDERS:- Lateral Raises
TRAPS:- Dumbell Shrugs
BACK:- Barbell Rows
BICEPS:- Concentration Curls (Not Seated, Bent Over)
TRICEPS:- Skull Crushers
FOREARMS:- Behind the Back Barbell Wrist Curls
QUADRICEPS:- Squats
HAMSTRINGS:- Lying Leg Curls
CALVES:- Standing Calf Raises
ABDOMINALS:- Leg Raises
