I'm sure this has been asked before but, is there a general consensus on specific exercises which are considered to be the best in building size; for example like deadlifts everyone seems to like those. I was wondering if there were certain staples for every type of muscle not just the big ones like squats and deadlifts but also ones for triceps and so on...?

Thighs/Total-body: Squats
Back/Thighs/Total-body: Deadlifts
Back plus biceps: Barbell Rows, Chin-Ups
Chest: Flat/Incline presses
Shoulders (Overall Upper body): Military Press
Triceps: I swear by parallel bar dips, but close-grip benches and skullcrushers are great too.
Biceps: Pretty much any free-weight curling movement will do
Traps: Shrugs
Calves: Standing Calf-Raises

Well said, I'd throw Good Mornings in there too for Lower Back/Core and GHRs/SLDL for hamstrings

*Smacks forehead* I can't believe I forgot about the stiff-legged deads! Just a brain fart, I guess.

I've never really done good-mornings, but as I'm currently making the transition from bodybuilding to powerlifting I guess I'll be getting familiar with them pretty soon!

The Ed Coan routine I mentioned in another thread is pretty similar to that, except that there's a fourth day devoted to assistance exercises. I'll be giving it a shot once I hit a wall with my current routine.
