On what type of bench should a military babrbell press be performed? Sounds ridiculous but am having trouble performing correctly. Any info helps, thanks.

Standing! I've learned to love doing them standing, works your core and adds so much to the movement!

Will it accomplish the same as sitting? Also, were can I find a picture or some directions for performing it correctly. Remember, many of these exercises I am doing for the first time. I Just started that Max Ot so it is introducing some new stuff. Thanks for the reply.

Standing would work perfect with Max-OT, I'm sure if you google "standing military press" you'll get lucky, if I have time later I'll look, but basically start with the bar resting just below the neck, press up and bring it down in front of your face to about even with your chin. Just practice with the bar to see how your balance is then start adding weight till you figure out where you are at for 6 reps (as per MaxOT)

Hope I don't get in trouble for this link but here is a little video demonstration, I personnally like a little wider grip, but that's not that important.

I'd say as long as you're standing and working the shoulders, which I think is the best way, go for a full clean and press. It's the best shoulder exercise in my opinion. A full rep has you cleaning the bar off the floor, pressing, and lowering it back to the floor. Or you could do a power c&p and clean the bar from waist level. It's a great movement.

Odoyal Rulez - thanks for that link. I had lost that awhile back and forgot it existed, great site.

There is no better way to do military presses than standing, IMO.

I just can't seem to get the balance right when I try them sitting. Something just doesn't feel right. I can go heavier AND use better form when I am standing.
