Ive been trainin nearly 3 years now, and ive mixed and matched workouts and have decided on the following for now
Week1
flat barbell press- 3 sets
incline smith machine - 3 sets
flat flyes - 3 sets
cable crossover - 4 sets

Week 2
Decline barbell press - 3 sets
incline barbell - 3 sets
incline flyes - 3 sets
cable crossover - 4 sets

with 3 set exercises i try to do 8,6,6 reps
with the cables i try to do 12,10,10,8 reps which i do at the end of my workout

can somebody clarify the effectiveness of my routine, please do not just say "your doing it wrong" or "waste of time" please expain your reasons

it looks okay to me... what is your goal for chest?? i'm guessing that this thread is called 'darrem charles' so i take it that this is from darrem charles, right"" the true of the matter is that Darrem Charles is in a different stage of bbing then we are. he's got the base down already..so, he's working on the shape of the muscle.. the reason i can see that, is all the flyes.. if your still a newbie...i would do more presses then flyes.. and add a pullover at the end of the workout

fly's dont shape anything, imo, once a week chest day, endless sets is NOT the way to go at all. Train the chest more frequently, and cut down on the volume for other parts.

I wouldn't cut out the flyes, but then again, I don't think of them as just shaping exercises.

i do think that flyes has its place in a chest routine. I would fo it more of a power flye. to get the weight up to build that mass

Exactly. No one said that flyes have to be lightweight movements or non-mass builders.

i would limit it to one flye movement.. and two or three pressing movements.. the presses is the bread and butter of chest mass. to tell u the truth, you dont nassaccary need to do flyes. ask ronnie coleman, he does no flye but has the best chest in the game today.. i used to do this workout when i was doing HIT a year ago

flat bench press
incline press (bb or db's)
weighted dips

if you wanted to, you could superset dips with flyes.

Just because Ronnie and other pros say they don't do flyes now, doesn't necessarily mean they didn't use them in their earlier training to build up to the point they're at now.

well im just looking for a chest that screams mass, i meen ive been training for 3 years now and i feel that my chest is lacking and i think it is because of the fact i have never been able to settle on a single routine which seems to work for me, i was wonderin how other people who consider there chest as a good point in there physique train it?
