My opinion of belts are pretty low, especially flimsy leather strips with buckles. The main purpose of a belt is to allow you to utilize your stomach to support your back, you push your stomach into the belt which in turn provides support for your back. The little leather deals that most consider belts are pretty useless, when you press into it in moves and bends providing little support, your core should be strong enough to support your back if you have to rely on a belt you are abusing it and will pay later in life for that abuse. Power Lifting belts for max effort squats, deads etc play a vital role in support of the back, but should be used sparingly. Jmho |
