Belts are very helpful when doing heavy lifts, so that you dont injure your back. The are good to use with lifts such as squats and deads, especially if you are prone to back injuries.

Good for keeping the guts in the right spot. If you're lifting heavy it's a good idea to have one handy but proper use is a must or you just have a big ass belt holding up your shorts.

Get a belt no question! Its one of the few things that will save u a lot of pain down the road. Knee wraps, wrist wraps and gloves are also a must!

I agree that you should get a belt for doing heavy squats and deads, but I don't know if I'd go as far as saying gloves are a must.

Personally I dont like to rely on them to much- using them all the time wont allow for the satablizer muscles to be trained ...but for heavy heavy sets yeah definetly

I never go to the gym without mine. I makes a great pager holder and it was custom made by my cousin who told me it wouldn't cost much. I guess what I thought was much and what he thought was much were 2 difernt things.

If he wasn't my cousin I would have told him to keep it.

My opinion of belts are pretty low, especially flimsy leather strips with buckles. The main purpose of a belt is to allow you to utilize your stomach to support your back, you push your stomach into the belt which in turn provides support for your back. The little leather deals that most consider belts are pretty useless, when you press into it in moves and bends providing little support, your core should be strong enough to support your back if you have to rely on a belt you are abusing it and will pay later in life for that abuse. Power Lifting belts for max effort squats, deads etc play a vital role in support of the back, but should be used sparingly. Jmho

Running with blood???? Come on I've never seen that, now I've had chunks come off but no bleeding. Gloves will weaken your grip some but the real reason to not use gloves is that bar to hand relationship. Squeezing the bar and feeling/controlling the bar as you do a movement, gloves totally take that away and are a huge hinderance to really maximizing your lifts. The Only reason to use gloves is to keep your hands pretty for your girl (or man).

Its allright happened to me and screwed up my next trainning session. I guess its a prefrence thing but if u think that people wear them for cosmetic reasons u might be reaching a little to far!. The vast majorty of people wear gloves when trainning because they improve grip and are advantagous in improving ur workout.

Have a look at the video section. Look at Ronnie working out its not a macho thing its intellegence thing

Yeh I've seen Ronnie C use them and a lot of other top guys, but he doesn't use them for everything. They definitely do not help grip, but hey I'm an old school powerlifter and there is no way I could hang on to a heavy DL with gloves on. I've tried to use them in the past at the beckoning of my wife, but after going through a couple pair I gave up, took me awhile to get my grip back up to were it was.

^^ Yeah I guess. To behonest it wasn't deads it was barbell curls that tore up my hands maybe cause when u reach a certain weight the grip spins a bit while curling!

I'm intrested tho u rekon deadz are better free hand. I'm always wanting to improve certain movements and well my deadz actually suck! I can row more than I dead whats the reasoning behind it. Eg free glove dea
