I dabbled a bit in powerliftin when I was a kid. Coach got me to do partials in the bench to develop that connection with lifting heavier weights. I went from 110kg to 155kg bench. (No shirt) Depends on ur goals but like I have mentioned before BB is not on how much u lift but doing exercises correctly to build muscle

Kinda stupid to just suddenly jump to a max attempt. You have to work up to these things and get used to the muscle recruitment patterns required.

If you are new to training (less 2yrs training) then you should steer clear of low rep training until you have a good level of development/experience.

hmmm, in my book 10 reps at 90 lbs. is an estimated 1RM of 135 lbs. Why would you jump to 220 lbs? You need to slowly push yourself each week. Instead of doing 10 reps at 90 next week, try:

5 x 90
3 x 100
1 x 110

If you're looking to increase your bench simlar protocols work nicely. Good luck, and be safe.

You are 14 years old and just starting out, there is no reason why you should be trying that weight. The only thing that will accomplish is stunting your growth and permanently injuring yourself. You have to work your way up more slowly.

Ya 10 reps of 90 lbs comes out to not even 135 about 120-125 lb bench.

once you get 165 or 175 for 10 reps try 220 again and you might be able to get it

Keep the weights low and work at your form and worry about impressing friends later on when you can drink and show em how you can pass out in their front yard while pissing on yourself.

You're young and the injuries you could be causing won't really be felt for years to come. You'll get there one day man. Just focus on staying motivation and eating right etc.

Biggest thing here is to workout with someone spotting you, specially if you are maxing out. Safety first bro.
