why is that?

I can barely do half of what i used to be able to do now that i've lost 30% body fat.

When you concentrated on losing fat, you most likely weren't careful enough to stop yourself from losing muscle as well. This is quite common and is the reason why bodybuilders usually cut quite slowly. Just keep working out and you should get your strength back in no time.

well when you were fatter your legs were bigger, therefore bigger levers making the lift mechanically easier. that's part of the reason, of course you've lost some muscle too

Agree. You may have lost some muscle which won't help, but you've lost a lot of mechanical leverage from the extra fat.

thats absolutely right which is why powerlifters dont mind carrying a little extra
