its a gym tho alot of people beleive it or not still dont have gyms near them and the ymca isnt that bad they just want to incorporate everyone and make sure everyones happy not your wanna be bodybuilding self i could understand your complaining you know you were going anywhere with it but your not and dont knock the 100 pld kid doing curls he probably doesnt know better and at least hes giving effort and isnt whining about like a highschool girl.

honestly what is the point of complaining about the ymca. they are theyre to help everyone out and do the best they can. sorry they dont want to crap on smaller people that want to get bigger or old people who want to live healthier and live longer. like you apparently do, you dont realize bodybuilders are a minority you dont get first come first served deals. no one wants to catter to you because you think you bigger than the guy across the gym whos just enjoying what hes doing lighten up shut up and stop bashing everyone else bodybuilders are the minority not the other way around be humble there are as many gyms out there that there is.

i agree though that environment is very important. to see everyone giving their all makes you want to join in on the fun.

It's all good! - Find a weight and lift it. It's simply a way to the goal. Sorry, you've got to deal with people when in public places. The best gym seems to where there are like-minded folks. Those that come to sociallize or see who else is there don't have the same goals. THose that are there to yell and scream.....putin' on a show have other goals. The team that is there to lift, pump up, flex and bodybuild lift the weights, move on, and have clear cut goals. I like a place like that. Each community will be a bit different. I hope yours fits your plan. Peace

Very good point. I worked out for quite a while with just bodyweight and whatever I could rig up with buckets of water and cement blocks.

Take a look at some of the guys in prison, they use bags filled with water and look pretty damn big for eating crappy food.

At the local "Y" i train at, i dont like it to much do to the equipment, its ok, but a larger varity would be good. Also kinda the overall environment. But one thing i can say is that if your a young guy and straped for cash, the Y is cheap for students.
