Any of you guys currently have or have had any lower back problems screwing up your training. I hurt mine sometime during this past track season and its been giving me problems ever since. Anybody who has/ had problems what did you do about it??? Ive been to the doc twice and had physical therapy but am still having the worst time with squats, BB rows and deads.

Umm don't do then then?!

I did my low back water skiing, so it was an acute injury, I'm not sure if that applies here. Basically though you have to back off anything that loads the low back to any discomfort until the pain subsides, and then gradually work back.

Until the initial problem is resolved you should be treating your back with kids gloves, or did the physio fail to mention that. Also you have to be straight up with physio's to get the right treatment. If you show them what you currently do in the gym they can help out more so that you don't do more damage. Mentioning you do squats isn't what i mean either, you have to say I do X times BW for X reps.

... yeah i know not to do the exercises that irritate it... Thats why its such a pain in the ass is its keeping me from some compound exercises. What are "kids gloves", thats a new one to me

I have started doing a few sets of bodyweight reverse hyperextensions everyday. It really seems to help eleviate the pain and help loosen up my lower back. If you gym does not have a reverse hyper, you can do them off a table or ball. Good luck.

I'm having some lower back pain right now, I mostly train around it. it only effects me on lower body exerises like legs and back. If i feel unconfartable, I'll jump on machines. no need to make it worse. and most importly know your limits. if you feel that you can go all out then do it, but on the flip side if your back is killing your lower the weight. bc every exerise hits the bhack in some way..

remember, to take some painkillers, not over the DRA.. painkillers are good for the body

They are so not good for you. Go to pubmed and search for the abstracts on NSAIDS.

"Kids Gloves" basically like the way you wouldn't put any force into sparring with a kid when teaching them to box. Taking it easy in other words.

Back problem can also be cause by bad foot acrch support. Your feet isn't shape right, causing the pressure to go to area they don't suppose to go, like your back. Don't know if this is the answer to your problem though

Get rid of your poain before deadlifting. GHR's and back ext's as wel as isolated leg work out goe along way.

Gravity boots and chiropractic care.

ANd when you go back to deads pull sumo style. It's better for the low back.

i had a herniated disc in my lower back from football/wrestling. i went to the chiropractor, but deadlifts still bug me sometimes. When it comes to squats, just get your belt on there real good and STRETCH!!!, especially (in my case) the groin. Be patient with it too, it'll get better over time if you don't crush it all the time.....mine did.

and remember, a stretched groin is a happy groin.
