My Squat and Deadlift are now exactly the same. 295x6. Should this be this way? I feel as my deadlift will soon pass it too. Whats usually the difference between Deadlift and Squat anyway? Within 50lbs?

Just curious, I know 295x6 isnt that great, at least to me. My goal is double my bodyweight for reps in each so I definetely have a weighs to go (45lbs on each movement)

I've never maxed out on either (building my way up), but they seem to usually be pretty close with powerlifters.

they should be roughly the same. Normally, if your technique is great your deadlift will be a little better since deadlift is more of a natural movement than squat. Mine are always roughly the same. I'd say if your technique is down pat in both lifts there should never be a huge difference between lifts (60+ pounds)

Thats usually because of the squat suit giving better leverage than it does for the deadlift. Raw most PL would have a better DL.

It is mainly down to leverages, some people are natural deadlifters but can't squat for shit, others are the reverse. Most people would have a higher DL, but some are lucky and will have them roughly the same with their 'good' leverages.

What are extacly the good bad leverages in each lift?

Long arms = good in deadlifts?

How do Long/short legs and long/shirt upper body effect them?

i think that generally you should be able to deadlift quite a bit more than your squat... having said that i think my 115lb difference betwen the two lifts may be too much. i've deadlifted 385lbs but i doubt i could squat that much even within 2 years

Tom Platz is a great example of the built to squat body. He doesn't have the long limbs and torso that necessitate forward lean to keep the bars weight over the heels.

The deadlift can be great for shorter people, the long armed (relative to legs and torso), and the shorter legged (turns it into a rack deadlift).

Some people can do both well, but most will have one that is far superior due to their makeup. Of course you still have to be strong and do the work.

biggest deadlift= 363 lbs - 1.5 reps
biggest squat = 264 lbs - 4 reps

as you can see bit of a difference. i love the deadlift if i could do only one lift for the rest of my life this is the one for me. im not a fan of the squat tho trying to change my frame of mind. i can do 300 for 7 on dead easy but then then ts still no comparison to 4 on the squat. never tested max squat.
