what i want to know is about how people and pros train the week before the contest. from what i understand if the show is on a saturday, then you should train sunday monday and tuesday, and then from wednesday on you're carbing up and so forth. ive only ever read once about it bo chick said he does 2 sets of 2 exercises and legs are not done to ensure his cuts wwill show thru im a right about this on the rigth track? ive never known much about pre PRE contest training so if anyone has some info or experiences id appreciate your input

this is all from what I know...keep in mind i've never entered a contest befo

You should stop training by Wednesday to allow for full recovery for the show. As far as training goes it is best to stick to real high reps (20+) and you should train no where near failure. Supersets would be a good idear for these few days. Staying away from big compound lifts would also be a good idea. I saw a sample routine some time ago and they had it set up something like this: Sunday train chest and back. Monday train legs and Tuesday train shoulders, biceps and triceps. The routine didn't include squats, deadlifts or BB bench presses. It's really all about keeping vascularity, hardness, cuts, etc. So, I think it's pretty smart to stay away from compound lifts for these few days to avoid injury....

id disagree with diesel. the week before for me is usually train until wednesday with NO LEGS in the last week. Really low reps 6-10 (im carb depleted high reps is just annoying and low reps are all i can realisitcally take without going really really pointless weight) and from wednesday to constest i carb up on no training. Training should have a variety of exercises to try and force a pump on low reps.

Workout as usual - you only change things if your body dictates it - if legs need to come out more then you blitz them the last few weeks (overtraining rules go out the window at this point) - reps stay low on the bodyparts that need it - reps go high with supersets/dropsets etc on the bodyparts that need it...

As for the few days of carb depletion - it is very hard to get a pump when you're low on carbs so anything looking for a "pump" is essentially useless. Listen to your body and watch the mirror....

No tanning the last week either - it tends to make you hold sub-q water......
