Hey! My parents won't let me get a bench press becuase i already have the squat rack and olympic set of weights - they say it's too much.
But I really need it otherwise my chest don't get much training.

I try and explain to them i will not buy a bench press with holders, just flat bench with two legs that I can put under the squat rack and use the squat rack holders for benching - it would be small.

Would that work?

Anybody got a link to a UK sports shop where i can get a good utility bench?

First Option.

Would the bench be suitable for heavy barbell benching?

So i could put these benches under the squat rack and use the squat rack holders to unrack the barbell for benching?

i'd go with the first option...you get to have decline and incline and you don't pay much extra... so yep it's a good idea to just use the squat rack with the bench

I went to the showroom for that company when we were looking at kitting out our gym. I agree with Maka - the first option is better, more range of options, plus as you suggested you can use the rack for benching help so as not to take up more room.

Ok I want you to go and have a look at a gymnast. Pretty decent chest and arms on them! Guess how many benches they have in their training gyms....... absolutely none! They do push up planches (amoung other exercises) for chest.

I would have loved a rack when I first set up at home. There is no need to be so stubborn/insollent with your parents about this issue. You already have a damned good setup.

Aside from that, benches want to be solid, wobble free, and strong. The more bolts they have the more they suck.

thanks for replies.

I understand your point tim but i hate doing push-ups and benching is more fun.

I saved up fort the rack and olympic set and it's what I wanted - was expensive but cheaper then continuous gym subscription.

My chest will grow faster from benching.

How much weight do you think this bench can tolerate?:

As I broke the leg extension (snapped off) on an otherwise heavy duty bench I'm probably going to get this one

http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/...5-3A3C5E5FF821

Definetly get one with say 10 year rather than 1 year guarantee.

also Tim is right foldable benches wobble, shake, rattle and that's before you get on it. :-)
Seriously the noises cause you to loose a little of your concentration on these types of benches.

You could contact fitness superstore and ask how much weight they'll support.

Also try other online retailers like .....

direct from the manufacturers

http://www.bodysolid.co.uk/asp/prodt...chFor=&PT_ID=0

or this one
http://www.bodysolid.co.uk/asp/prodt...chFor=&PT_ID=0

All three benches are COMMERCIAL grade without the price tag.

glad to help Scouler :-)

By the rollers are to hold you down, it's not a leg extension.

What's the lowest height you can get the squat rack down to ?
