I used to have a chart that estimated your max bench based on rep you can do at a given weight. It wasn't 100% accurate, but it was close. I'm trying to find it again with no luck. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I work out by myself and it's usually real early. There isn't anyone I trust with a decent spot (all old peeps and ladies workin there at that time). Anyways, I put up 225 for 23 reps with no spot yesterday. I'm betting I could have squeezed out two more reps with the confidence of someone standing behind me. Just trying to estimate my max w/o maxxing out. Help anyone??

You can use this system of percentages to get an apporximate for the one repetition maximum, but these rely on you knowing your ten repetition maximum. This might help: http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/OneRepMax.html

There's a table in Beyond Brawn that lists ratios to estimate your max or target weight for a rep scheme. Its from Maurice and Rydin (in the book by Stuart McRobert), if you Google that you should find a good conversion table.

Also the value of a spot is either mental (I'm not going to kill myself here) or it is physical (guy with his hands on the bar steadying or helping). The later should never be counted towards how many reps you can perform. The mental aspect can be trained though, which is important if you train at home or on your own.

BEnch calulators can be found on google very easily.

They are a rough estimate. That is all they are good for. I can prove one wrong any day. But they are close.

I can do 225x24 reps and can bench 415 raw and 545 in a shirt.

Yeah I know there just an estimate, but they seem to be relativley accurate. Like you said any day can be different. A lot of variables come into play. Thanks for the posts guys.
