There is such a thing as overtraining. Just because Arnold and Lou did things one way doesn't mean it's right. There are changes in the body's physiological state and hormonal balance as well as affects on the CNS and immune system from overtraining. I see Jorn lurking around so I'm sure he'll post even more on the subject.

I agree with everything you said.

But imo overtraining is very easy to avoud, eat shitloads, sleep alot, and have some form of periodisation in your program and you'll be fine.

some symptoms of overtraining are trouble sleeping, elevated or decreased resting pulse, loss of appitite and everything else Lineski said. Theres tons more as far as symptoms but those come to mind. One thing I have noticed happens when overtraining is I get twitches in different places. Not so much from the muscle itself, but usually somewhere on my face.

If I remember right another symptom is trouble concentrating but don't quote me on that one.

Overtraining is simply the overload of an exercise stimulus, or an increase of work in your training program.
Diet and drugs are some contributing factors. Arnold and lou are genetically gifted and along with massive eating and drugs they can train like that. The average person isnt build for that amount of work

Overtraining is different for different people. It's not just how much you do within a session but how often you do the same muscles within a time frame. If I do the big compounds too close to each other I overtrain relatively quickly. All horses for courses.

I used to work out about 4 days a week full body workouts. I was not getting anywhere. FOr the last year I have been 3 day a week low volume split workouts. I have blown up. Different genetics respond in different ways. For me low volume is where it is at.

Everyone thinks they can say diffrent genetics for diffrent people. BS! Tell me in which way you're 'diffrent' genetics are saying to which program you respond?

You can have diffrent fiber ratios, doesn't mean you respond better to higher or lower reps as people claim they do, since not all fibers have equal growth potential.

Other diffrent genes: GH levels, test levels, thyroid levels...get it? Hormone levels. Got low levels, to bad, you're gonna grow less hard than someone who got high, but changing programs won't change a thing to that!

BTW, 4 times a week fullbody and 2 sessions a day is tha sit!

I have been lifting faithfully for about 4 years, but all it too is a low volume program and I responded. 3 days a week 1 1/2 hours strength training, and 3 days cardio work perfect for my body. I have put on at least 20 pounds 30 if you count the fat in the last year. Never made any gains when i was overtraining. But then again i guess you know how my body responds.

Let me guess you dont believe in Endomorphs or ectomorph bodytypes.
