I've been traing them twice a week for the last 10 weeks, If your delts and back day are seperate enough its cool. I never overtrained mine, and they grew nicely. Just dont do it all the time, say next 8-12 weeks only train them once a week.

shrugs are good for traps, but I still think Deadlifts are better ...

I concur.

If you do shrugs with back I'd incorporate heavy deads into your routine and also do shrugs with good intensity at the end of your back workout and you should be good to go. Let us know if this helps. Best of luck.

I've heard about some pros that try to bring their traps up i.e. chris cook. he did shrugs on back and shoulder day but he only did one exerise. either bb or db shrugs. i dont think that anythings pointless. just think of it as a lesson that this works or doesnt work. i personally think that you really doint need to give traps all of volume bc it gets hit from shoulders and back exerise. in fact, alot of ppl dont do shrugs at all. bc they got go traps from deadlifting.

traps dont require alot of work to grow just alot of intensity.
many guys throw in 4 or 5 sets of shrugs and thats it, theres no need to go overboard with them esp if you're doing things like deadlifts im doing cleans atm and i dont do any sort of shrug movement as they help them nicely

don't train them twice a week. once a week will suffice. when working u'r traps, go heavy in all the workouts with strict form. not too heavy to avoid injury. do barbell shrugs, dumbell shrugs and upright rows. it is good enough!

I used to work my traps 1 time a week on my shoulder day, and they were lagging behind. I decided to start hittin them 2 times a week and I've seen some good progress with my traps now.

One question I had was does everyone do 8-10 reps or more like 15-20 reps with shrugs? I do 8-10 of heavyweight and on the last rep I hold the shrug and then let go. Anyone else do this?

for the most part I do them 12-20 reps. Sometimes I go down to 8 and sometimes I go as high as 50.
