well today was the first time i tried leg curls.
i basicaly only did squats, leg extensions, lunches, and SLDL but damn, the pain i felt was ripping my legs.
i first started with light weight to see how it goes, and went heavier, and for my last set, it felt like it was ripping my calves. im not even sure if it were my calves but do leg curls hit the calves?
if not maybe im doing them wrong..

Just wait until you try walking tomorrow.

Explain how are you doing them so we can tell if you are doing them wrong or not. I doubt it though, it kills for everyone the first time. ESPECIALLY the next day.

well i have my own equipment of leg curling down at my basement, connected with a benchpress.
when i tried to do them first, there was great pain in my quads each time i curled it, more like a pain from not enough cushion(when I rested my quads on cushion). So when i do my leg curls, i go up a little more till the top of my knee caps are pretty much on the cushion(eh i kind of forgot, but i think my quads were not resting on the cushion at all), and me grabbing the horizontal bar nearby my head tightly with my arms so i dont slip down.

but seriously, my last set felt like my calf, or maybe i had a wrong feeling and they were my hamstrings, were going to rip off.

I think this is more than likely due to your equipment (no offence) I had a multi-exercise bench with leg curl, leg ex on it and that and I could not use the leg curl attachment. The movement and position of it was all wong and the pad kept rolling up and down my calves and making it really uncomfortable but I could not adjust it any more than the height of the pad which had no effect. The problem with these benches is that on some of the exercises they just cram the bits on and unfortunatetly they will never be as good as a exercise specific machine. I had to resort to hanging a DB off of my belt and hanging the belt over my ankle whilst standing on a bench and curling it that way, one leg at a time. Not ideal, but better than the bench attachment! If this is awkward, you may just have to stick with SLDL for a while.

oh probablly thats why.. yea Rocky i got the bench with the leg extension + leg curls attachments.
and Notin but a peanut, i think the pads were on my calfs

but would this be a good exercise for the calf? cause the pain felt great lol... meaning if it was a calf exercise. my calf never hurt that much from any exercise.

should i continue using this for an calf/quad exercise?

You have to remember that the hammy and the calf both cross the knee joint so will be active in leg curls and SLDL. Doesn't mean the calves are being trained effectively though.

Calves aren't trained particulalry well in the curl, it's not really directly hit at all. The reason the pad is on your calves again is probably the same reason that they are hurting, on my one the pad starts on my heels but as I curl it the pad rolls up my calves - again due to the poor construction of the attachment.
