Yo, Im not sure if this is the right place to submit this but anyway, today in the gym I was working shoulders and on my 4th set of seated db presses with the 90s I fucked my shoulder up. I went up normally but my right arm went back to far and I felt a wierd noise and just dropped the db. I immediately got up and walked around and moved my arm and felt no pain or anything. Everything was fine. Then I got sick and it started to get tight. By the time I got home it hurt really bad. I iced it on and off for about 2 hours. My question is, is there any way to know if anything is seriously injured? torn a ligament or anything. I can move it slightly but sure as hell cant lift it up over my head. Should I just keep icing it and wait and see how it feels? Any input will be helpful, anyone else have this happen to them? thanks

sounds like it might be the rotator cuff. i put my shoulder out of place once and b/c of that i strained a ligament. i can tell you, straining a ligament hurt like hell. i remember i couldn't move my arm w/o it hurting and that baby kept me up all night for about 2-3 nights in a row. if you can move your shoulder I would be very surprised if it's anything extremely serious. thats just my 2 cents but like everyone else said go to the doc.

thanks bro, I can definately move it a bit. I was thinking rotator cuff as well. Im gonna see how it feels after a few days and then get it checked out by a doctor. How did you injure yours?

it was actually through baseball. I slid into home head first (big mistake), catcher put his leg down in front of my right shoulder. it didn't hurt too bad at the time, i played the rest of the game and felt fine. I went home and it slowly started to get worse. funny thing is, the catcher that did that was actually my best friend

IMO dont go to the doctor, chances are your basic family doctor knows fuck all in the way of sports injuries, and if by chance he doesnt know, usually he wont tell you that and will just say go see someone else for a second opinion.

Id go see if theres an ART therapist in your area, if so see them for sure.

I did the exact same thing to my left shoulder with db presses at a steep incline. A physiotherapist can tell you what's going on, otherwise you're just guessing whether its the rotator cuff muscles, ligaments, tendons, who knows what

I am debating on whether to go or not, its been 4 days and it feels pretty good. It still hurts but not nearly as bad, it seems each day it gets dramatically better. I would however like to know what I did to it. I appreciate the advice guys, cheers.
