Im new to working out. im 6'6 203 pounds. im lean and i wanna gain about 30 lbs of muscle. my split looks like this. mon: chest, tri's, abs, calves. Tue: Back, Biceps. Wed:Shoulders, traps, abs, calves. Thur: legs Fri: cardio, abs, calves. I do about 4 different exercises for each muscle group. I do 3 sets of each and 12 reps. this is done with the most weight i can lift with good form. i also do the last set of each exercise to failure and then 2 dropsets immediately after. Can any of you experienced guys out there tell me if this is a good plan? im on a protein diet. eating lots of veggies and chicken breast. i also drink a protien shake about 2 hours before i workout and one immediately after. i also drink 1 gallon of water a day or more and take mega men vitamin from GNC. tell me what you think.

first off I do have to say it seems as though you have a pretty good idea of what you are doing. Having a protein shake before you workout is ok but eating solid foods about 60-90 minutes prior to working out is better. Eat some type of light protein (chicken or fish) and complex carbs (complex=breads, pasta, oatmeals, etc). Then, right after you workout have a protein shake and simple carbs (fruits). About 40-60 minutes after this meal you want to turn to solid foods and complex carbs. As far as your routine I think it looks pretty good. The only thing I see w/ the split that you coudl change is switching legs to friday but keep the cardio either friday or saturday, which ever you prefer. I also think it would be better to change shoudler day to Thursday and then take Wednesday off. I think 4 exercises is good but I am somewhat confuzzled about the dropsets. Personally I would say to forget the dropsets. Just do 4 exercises 3 sets each. If you really like doing dropsets then I would say just do 3 exercises. Hope this helped

donty be afraid of low glycemic carbs wheat sources basically, just stick to 40-50 G per meal, dont want to become carb sesative by avoiding carbs. Aside form that i think u have a great routine for getting everything started bro, just get her done!

Agreed! Drop sets are an intensifier to use sparingly, not every exercise of every workout.

Definately agree with the drop sets. Also, if you are wanting to gain mass, don't be afraid to alter your rep amount and do some lower reps, especially with the bigger exercises!
