does it matter the way your grip is when you deadlift?
like there is the palm in- palm in grip
and palm in-palm out grip.
doing palm in left hand and palm outward right hand fits me best and im jus curious if it makes a difference if i only stay with that and dont switch off the hands i do inward and outward with?

The one "in" and one "out" grip as you call it is the best grip for deads as it allows you to grip much heavier weight than a typical underhand or overhand grip, as you have opposing force on the bar to a point. However, it is VERY important to alternate between which hand is under and over each time as this could create problems later on. Pickle made a post in which he has attirbuted his back problems to not swapping grips. The only reason you find one to be more comfortable than the other is familiarity, changing regularly will make both as comfortable as each other!

I really don't see how not switching grips is going to give you back problems. I'm up for reading something that shows why it could happen. I'm just curious b/c I've been doing the same grip for about 3-4 years.

^^Diesel - check out Pickle's log on page 17. I'm not saying that is scientific and is definately the reason. But for the same reason that that grip means you can lift more with it, leads me to believe that there may be extraneous reasons behind alternating your grip to keep balance.

from reading what he said it sounds like its more of not stretching than anything else. there are so many factors that can come into play when it comes to lower back injuries. I just don't see how your grip can make a difference, I'll keep a watch for that though.

I go left hand under, right hand over. My left arm is a lot more flexible b/c of baseball and thats why I go under w/ left. no matter how much i stretch my forearms my right forearm is still stiff as hell. hopefull i never notice a problem b/c of my grip.

b4 i used 2 do the alternating grip but now i do overhad grip 4 both hands with straps cuz if u grip 1 hand with reverse grip and the other with overhand grip, u can tear ur biceps while ur pulling heavy weight with the hand that ur holding the bar with a reverse grip.....cuz a reverse grip will put more preasure on ur biceps than with the overhand grip.......

i even heared that dorian yates tore his biceps from a reverse grip barbell rows, thats y he changed 2 overhand grip.......and i also saw a picture of a pwerlifter doing deadlifts with alternating grip and he tore 1 of his biceps with the hand that he was holding the bar with a underhand grip while doing that.......so using straps will make u even go heavier than the alternating grip and its safer.........

I always wondered if it would make my back development less symmetrical if I used the one-under one-over grip. Personally lately I've been either doing rack deads with slightly lighter weight but with both hands in an overhand grip. I'm not sure if it's just me, but I feel that as long as I use good form and can get a full squeeze at the top that I'm getting just as effective a workout. Realistically as a natural who eats clean and is currently dieting, I feel doing deads as heavy as possible won't really do much for me in terms of adding growth or improving thickness so I'm trying to be realistic. I just feel like I get a more balanced contraction when using the same type of grip with both hands.

the thing with one over and one under is your back is more spread in one position to the other. the underhand grip on one side recruits slightly more biceps and the over hand grip on the other side opens up your upper back more. Thats why i suffered this injury my left back is far more developed! . Most powerlifters recommend using alternating grips with straps but changing every set. left hand over right hand under, right hand over left hand under. It took me getting injured to understand why.

where you comfortable with, its ok either both in or or left in and right out or vice versa. coz it's a lower back exercise..
