Hello hunks,

I recently came to know about how Tom Platz-known for his magnificent legs- trained his legs. Apparently his training is far off convention, employing super high reps(with heavy weights) in the range of 20-40 is his squats.

I tried the routines of many champs in training legs and realised that the relatively low rep range of 12-15 does not induce good quad development for me. Trying out Tom's method, my quads are growing very very nicely(I carry about 40% of my 1RM).

Does any of you have comments to why legs respond to high reps better , for my case at least, or is this universal-that is legs should
be trained with high reps?

ive heard a few bbders say that they like higher leg reps more han lower ones i dont know exactly why that is maybe because how big the legs are blood volume is important becuase with just 5 or 6 reps it isnt been worked throughy enough though pumping it rock hard with blood forces alot more muscle recruitment and therefore better growth

i dont know mate

I say give it a shot...20+ reps, make sure you have a puke bucket

I will admit that when I do go up to 15 reps It does feel a lot better as far as how my quads are getting hit. I've never gone higher than that though....

pretty simple really, legs make up the whole lower half of your body, the need and can handle more volume, still go heavy but high reps do work better and is much more effactive than low reps..... low reps are the easy way out.

Ever also thought of really low reps?

You need to do several types of set rep schemes to really bring up the legs. The main thing is to train heavy and train them often. One workout a week is pathetic, especially when most people here are doing at least three upper body workouts.

Also gotta include lunges, stepups, SLDL's to really hit the legs.

You got to remember your legs are used to doing an incredible amount of work by comparison to other body parts what with any walking you do so they can need more stimulation than other body parts to have the same effects.
