I'm just getting into BB, and wasn't sure what the best course of action was. Currently, I'm about 25 pounds heavier than I want to be (It's not muscle). Is it better to hit the cardio hard now and lose this weight, then start bulking, or would it be better to just start lifting hard now? I've changed my diet, and I'm eating clean now. I'm just not sure what the focus of my training should be at this point. Any thoughts, ideas, or advice would be appreciated. Thanks-

do cardio as well as weights. the more muscle you have the more fat you burn through out the day. weights three to four days a week, cardio 3 to 4 days a week starting at about 20 min a(cardio) session and see how it goes. also make sure to eat enough protien, about 1.5 grams per pound of bodyweight

If you are just starting training then I would concentrate on lifting and keeping the weight. If you are eating cleaner then that is the first thing you got right.
Make sure you choose a good routine. Check out some logs and the split routines sticky in this section to get some ideas. Post up your intended routine and people will be able to help with adjustments if needed. Doing some cardio is fine for maintaining benefits, but if you want to get bigger quicker then try and bulk up and train heavy and intensely! Put up your planned routine and current diet and let's see what you got!
