What's up guys....
Just wanted to ask a question about including cardio into weight training schedule

for example....next week i'm changing my routine to this:

Mon - Chest & tris
Tues - Back & Bis
Weds - Rest
Thurs - Shoulder & Traps
Fri - Legs
Sat - Rest
Sun - Rest

where can I put the cardio? and I really don't want to include it in the weight training days because it'll take way to long and I have work and school to worry about as well...

what I was thinking is coming in on the days of rest and just do 30min... of something, but that's where my questions comes in for you guys....so what do you guys think??

and thanks "Rocky" for suggesting the new routine

No probs with the routine, and what you had in mind was exactly what I was gonna suggest! On your off days twice per week. But what are your goals? Are you looking to bulk, cos if so then maybe only once per week and low intensity. If not then twise a week should be fine with the right diet! Good luck with the new programme man!

My goal is just to lose a little bit more of my belly, theres really not much left, and yes, i'm looking to bulk up....so how does twice a week sound with low intensity, but what machine do you recommend? cross trainer? or stair master?

Thanks again

Mach

one more thing, what I forget to tell you, I used to be 270, but got down to 200 pounds and then I started weight training 5 days a week, and now i'm 230, but I gained the weight after training with heavy weights after 7 months , but i'm 6"2

so, i'm relly not a small guy that's trying to bulk up...so is it ok that i'm already big and trying to bulk up?

I personally would suggest doing 20-25 minutes after ur workout on monday or tuesday....take wednesday as a total day off....and then hit some cardio on saturday when u can devote more time to it...
reason being is that u need total rest on ur days off to rebuild what u have tore down....ur days off also allow u to get the proper nutrition u need without running all over town (gym, school etc)

just my 2 cents worth

I can't really do cardio after my workout, like I said before i'll be at the gym way to long because i have work and school...that's why I have to do cardio all alone, or believe me I would do cardio after working out if I could...

another thing, how long do you have to drink your shake after working out? I usually drink it 5min.. after i'm done, but say I do cardio after some heavy ass lifting, I wouldn't get my shake in for about 45min.. after? is that ok?

Thanks

What sort of cardio?

Assuming you don't want to compromise your lifting.

Low intensity can be done just about anytime you feel like it.
Moderate intensity could be done on a couple of the off days.
High intensity would have to be scheduled to an off day or two that doesn't inhibit the lifting.

If you don't care about your lifts and are more concerned with fitness and fat levels then cardio can take place anywhere. You will have a curb in muscle gain and strength from this though.

Just stick to low-moderate intensity if you're wanting to bulk - as Tim290280 says - it can be done anytime, but for the best use of your time - your off days is probably the best place. I don't think it really matters what type you do - personaly preference is key here.

And with regard to your shake - ideally want to be consuming it within 20mins of finishing your workout! And then getting a solid meal in around 1-1 1/2 hrs after that!
