Hi! I'm doing frontsquats for like 2month now and i can't seem to do heavy weights(for most of you it's maybe not that heavy :-D). I can do backsquats with 140kg for 10reps, but with front it's only 80kg becuase my schoulders can't hold so much weight resting on them. Does anybody have a tip or technique that could help me front-squating more weigths, coz i know my legs can handle it, but my shoulders don't.

i find front sqauts to be to difficult to hold alot of weight on my shoulders. i can back squat way more than i can front squat. its impossible to overload the quad with fronts... i suggest you stick to rear squats if you want your legs to grow.

i front squat heavy form time to time i use to do it on a weekly basis but switched it back up to regular squats. I hold the bar invbetween my callar bone and my front deltoid and push it backward, the trick is to keep your elbows up, if your elbows go donw you will lean foward, and the weight will go with u. Look up and keep your elbows ups up bro.

well u will always be able to do more weight on back squats than on front squats, so don't get to overworked about it. it is hard to sustain alot of weight on ur shoulders without it hurting u, but u could try and use some padding underneath the bar to help, or u could try sustaining the bar with ur hands, but that will bring alot of pressure to ur wrists, and finally the only other thing u can do is to keep on tryin and eventually ur shoulders will become accustomed to the weight.

agreed with BigBen .. i keep my elbows crossed and up .. also try to do fornt squat on the smith machine .. it's a bit easier than the free bar

You should hold the bar as the chick in the picture in the thread of q80's post.

I find them tricky aswell. Remember, that the load is more directly over your quads and does not incorporate so much ham, lower back and glute involvement so although the weight you use is less it's all quads! I'm trying to alternate each week between them and regular squats!

Alternate each week?
In most weeks I do 2-4 types of squats. I know alot of people say it's to hard on your body, but I disagree. My overal volume isn't that high, but intensity is.
