Thought I'd post up a few good articles for people just getting into cardio or who will be getting into (fat burning) cardio in the near future. I know I'm new to it, so maybe others are too, considering we focus mostly on weight training in the off season, and only a month or so on cardio.

To get started here's a maximum heart rate calculator:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/calhr.htm

This is for medium - intense cardio. I focus more on low-intensity because I do cardio for about 30 minutes 2-3 times a week first thing in the morning, so I keep my range around 30-38 beats every 15 seconds. Some prefer more intense, for my that would be 38-43 beats every 15 seconds. Keep in mind you want to start your first count at 0 instead of one. Just keep a digital watch in your hand or on your wrist so you can keep track of time.

Anyways here's an AWESOME article on the debat of whether or not cardio first thing in the morning yields good results in comparison to say later on in the day.

http://www.leehayward.com/am_cardio.htm

Read it thoroughly, I promise you will be glaf you did, it covers most of the basics and provides studies to it's topics.

For those who doc ardio when bulking, I'm sure your diet is flawless, I know my diet is flawless so I can get away with it by eating more whole calories.

Check out this article: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/zaino17.htm

Anyways, just thought some beginners in cardio might be interested in starting somewhere, I enjoyed these articles thoroughly I hope you do too.

Also for those debating whether or not Low-intensity or High-intensity cardio is the best, check this article out:

I personally use Low-intensity because your body is more likely to burn stored fat as energy, which is especially important in the morning. However I'm not one to judge one better without trying, so check out the articles.
