you're right :) But I still squat more than I bench

But my knees tend to hurt from time to time and they did at my last workout.

maybe ur technique needs some work. also, i ice me knees down after every leg workout. my knees dont hurt or ne thing, but its just for safety i guess...keep the knees healthy

I have som friends who are powerlifters and I've had them watch me wile I was squatting, just to get my technique right. But they all told me it's was flawless.

But my knees don't hurt as often as they used to. Only like once every 6-8 weeks now.
If they start to hurt I just lay off the heavy weight for that day and give them the rest they need, and just use lighter weight. :)
