Guar gum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It turns whatever you eat/drink into a geletin in your intestines (or if you let it sit in a drink too long). Slows digestion and lowers the GL of a meal. Its cheap and it works.

Saturday, November 7 2009 - Sunday, November 8 2009 Very long OFF day
My day started at 930am and it wont end until i'm home in bed tomarrow at 8am with the exception of a 30minute nap. Todays diet reflects that of an off day with all the numbers slightly skewed because i just continue to eat every 3.5 hours or so.

Sunday, November 8 2009
Squat Day

Well i only got 4.5 hours of sleep today. For whatever reason i woke up at 1230 after going to bed at 0800, after being up for 20+ hours. I also didnt get to the gym until 2 hours after my first meal. Regardless.... No excuses, it was a good day.

Warmup

Squats
180x5
210x5
-Belt-
235x15 - Rep PR (stoped with a few reps in the tank)
-remove belt-
170x10x4

Goodmornings
225x10x3
-ss-
Standing Cable Crunchs (rope held at the top of my head)
20(stack)x15x3

Stretched

I got a PR and cant complain about that. Kept the accessory work short and to the point.

Weight 170lbs
Weight was 170lbs even before my workout. My weight tends to drop when i work 3rd shift (i do this every 3rd weekend) regardless of the fact that i end up getting in the same amount of Calories. Should be back to normal before the end of the week.

Thanks. I've had some set backs on my squat in the past year. I changed my form to what i'm comfortable with (hands wider on the bar, rather then what some book or article tells me to do), and i feel like i should make some quick improvements on them.

I position my hands very wide. Pretty much where the stands sit on each side. I feel a more controlled balance this way.

235x15? Nice Jake! I agree with what you guys were mentioning about comfortability when it comes to squats. I like to put my hands wide on the bar as well.

Yep, just a little bit and i use a narrower stance. The widening the grip thing really made a diffrence for me.

Jake not sure if you have any BCAAs right now or not but when you have some try mix a little bit of the Guar Gum with it, I know that Xanthan is supposed to work to keep the consistency of the BCAA uniform(not letting the leucine float), just want to see how Guar Gum works, as it might work better.

I've done this before. I did it when i was cutting the 10lbs i needed to cut for my meet. I let my bcaas sit for too long and it became like a gelatin lol. Guar gum tastes pretty ****ty, combined with the already ****ty taste of bcaas, not something i'd want to do all the time. I'm Actually out of BCAAs i ran out last week. I'm using just strait leucine because i had a kilo sitting around unopened.

Haha yeah thats what the gums do, it could of been to much used. But letting it sit would be a huge factor to make it slimy and what not. Xanthan probably taste a tiny bit better since its derived from corn and not a bean.

Yeah i ussually drink it fast enough that its not something to worry about but i had to practically eat the bcaas. I'm probably going to be picking up some xanthan gum along with my guar gum when i run out next time. So i'll be able to expirament with that a little.

Yeah I have heard good things about both, guar seems to be the more popular one though. I read a couple studies on it about weight loss, but from the studies it doesn't promote weight loss.

That weight would normally be an easy amount of weight/reps for me but my hamstrings were fried after the high rep squats. So they were definitely brutal.

+25x17 (these all suprisingly bothered my shoulder even more)

+35x13 (not sure what happened there, either i didnt wait long enough between sets or my tris were just fatigued)

Dead Hangs (these both were suprisingly easy my grip didnt fail on either i probably did 45-60seconds on both, they were just boring. I'm going to go up to +180 and see how that feels.)
