Hey my names Elliott and i just started lifting for a competition coming up. My brother Jake got me into it when i went to his last meet and inspiried me to stop being a bitch and go for it.
My first Comps gonna be in december so i have a month to get ready. Ill be starting on my workout tomorrow and will post it after im done so i can get some recomendations if im not doing something right.
The meet is single event and ill be doing the age deadlift. Im 16 and i weigh 131lbs so ill probly be in the 132lb class unless i decide to lose some weight but idk if i will. My Personal Record for it so far is 280 which i did today so i was happy about that but im planning on getting into the 300s for the meet. Any type of recomendations will be gladly taken.
Thanks.

Welcome Elliot! First off, nice backflip. I look forward to following your log and know who to call to have kick you ass if you stop it.

I look forward to watching you progress and see how you do in the comp.

Well i officially started my training today for my competition in december. I was planning on making today a deadlift day but was a jackass and messed my thumb up pretty bad so its too swollen to lift. So i went for some cardio stuff for today. This is how i have it planned out. I did a week of working out before officially starting to get my weights in and to find the right reps.
Here it is:
Monday- Deadlift
225x5
250x3
280x1 (Busting a nut but hoping to get higher #s)

Tuesday- Squat
Box jumping first.
squat:
190x5
200x3
210x1

Wednesday-Cardio
Short sprints.

Thursday-Bench
Clap pushups and dive bombers.
Bench:
120x5
130x3
140x1

Friday-Deadlift(Want to deadlift alot since its the event im competing in)
225x5
250x3
280x1

So thats what i have so far. Any comments or advice on this will be gladly taken. Thanks.

Dont forget to do some accessory lifts for each of those days. Accessory lifts are exercises that will compliment the muscles being used for each lift or help with a weak point. Looks like a good plan so far though :-)

Throw these in: db rows, weighted dips, weighted pull ups, weighted sit ups, and glute ham raise if you have the machine and STRETCH YOUR HAMSTRINGS EVERYDAY!

Looks good try throwing in a lowerback/hamstring movement like Goodmornings or rack pulls (the top part of a deadlift, have the weight resting on a base about 2 inches below the knee). Since i'm pretty sure you dont have the ability to do rack pulls, stick with good mornings for now.
Basic Goodmorning Technique: poke your ass out keep the bar low on your back (like if you were going to squat the weight) and bend over moving your ass back as you lower the weight until your upper body is parallel with the floor. To raise the bar push your hips forward and raise your torso (you should feel a stretch in your hamstrings at the bottom. If your feeling it too much in your back then your probably doing them wrong and i'll show you how to do them when i see you next time.)

Not bad might want to save your core work for your DL or SQ days (just because you want your core to be fresh for these lifts). Remember that your core includes your lower back and doesnt just function as a way to sit up. It also is used for stabilizing your core (remember your spine and these muscles are what are connecting your lower body to your upper body. A strong core means a healthy spine in the long run).

Try doing some leg raises where you keep your legs strait and bring them above your head using only your abdominals and control the negative portion (you'll feel the negative working more of your lower back, and if you hang from a chinup bar with your arms slightly flexed you'll feel it in your lats too and it really forces you to move your body as a unit. You'll be lucky to get more then a few the first time, especially if you control the negative.). Also that exercise i showed you the video of is good for the whole core too.

We'll need to do sprints together some time. I had Bill doing them in the rain up that hill in your front yard :-), and then a few longer ones across the whole field. It was good wet fun. Just like.... oh nevermind.

I seriously doubt your getting fat. You always think your getting fat, but in reality your a lot leaner then most people. Start to worry when your abs go away.
