i hardly get sore anymore. at least not to the point where the pain is satisfiying. it's probably due to my high volume. but i still grow nonetheless. i just don't get that sore anymore.

Hi ibanezman88 I have been looking on everyday and your dedication keeps me going. Thank you.
I was just thinking that last night that I don’t get that soreness like I use to anymore like when I first really started lifting in January, and was wondering is that the effect of not lifting enough weight? You mentioned that it is due to you high volume, could you explain what that means please.
I hope I don’t sound like a fool
Thank you in advance
Izzy

he pretty much means that due to the high volume his muscles have developed a great deal of muscle endurance and therefore it takes a lot for them to fatigue and get sore

Not getting sore is fine, until it becomes as if you're flat lining or "plateauing". High volume is referred to the high amounts of sets, which will not cause muscle endurance, it should/can cause muscle girth.

DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) isn't a result of training volume either. So don't go pushing heavy weight, on the same exercises and expect to be sore. Soreness is a direct result of a change of a new program, influx of volume and intensity and different movements causing the "shock" to your muscles.

No problem bro, you don't sound like a fool at all! :)

edit* sorry went back and read, you do one or two more sets then me, just that same weight. ps i forgot to tell you, went awsome, check my log. oh yea btw your incline bench is crazy!
yesterday i was a zombie.
felt horrible,
but did a shoulder workout anyway and it was amazing.

yeah, my fav. calf raise routine is

standing calf raises - 4x12
lying one-legged calf raises - 4x12
seated calf raises - 4x12

but my calves grow real slow.

great deadlift islander.

hey guys, islander deadlifted 205lbs

about people's range of motion on calf raises, this is the only way mine will show the slightest growth. because my calf insersions are way up at the knee. but other people have their calves more toward the center or even more towards the ankle which makes it a lot eaiser to isolate them. that's why some people have big calves and they only do a short ROM.

some people have big calves without working them out (my mom). it's genetics.

sorry i took too long to respond. been real sick lately.

thanks for reading my log izzy. i'm glad that i've motivated you. this comment motivated me even more!!!

yeah, the guys explained it already. i don't really get that sore because i do a very high number of sets and reps sometimes. but that's ok. because my arms havn't gotten sore in a very long time but they're still growing.

and you didn't sound like a fool. you were very kind and polite unlike many newcomers on these boards. sometimes we gotta set them streight.
