As you gain weight, does it make it harder for you to lift off, or in my case stabilize on the board or pop up? I'm not worried, as getting up for me is simple math, just the fact that I have a 5'6" size board and the board sinks under the water a good 1/2 foot lol.
What are your thoughts bud? |
without a doubt it makes it harder! i have been boarding from the start when i weight about 130lbs, increased my size and with the bigger the board and the more i weighed it required more strength for me to get my pop out of the water. stability was never a problem, but my pop was. when i was light i was doing 6-8ft airs wake-to-wake without a problem on a smaller board. i started growing, got a bigger board and thus required more strength. the biggest difference was when i switched from a 133' to a custom 133.5'. a half an inch you think wouldn't make that much of a difference, but to clarify it makes a huge difference, i needed something a little bigger. in the midst of that i jumped from 150-170, i could tell as i increased my weight it got harder to get bigger airs, so i just worked on making myself stronger, and before ya know it...everything worked out. now i am air'ing 3-4ft higher than i used too and about 2ft further beyond the wake.
to answer your question, yes it will make it harder, for you stability will be tougher, but after a couple weeks this coming summer you'll get used to it. for us you never want to be bulking in the summer, so the heaviest you'll come in during "our" season is the beginning of summer. ya know? let me know if this helps bro.
